Hiii……you may or may not have noticed that I haven’t blogged about the State of my World in a while…all year in fact! Its totes apropos tho as the first SOMW blog I wrote in January 2018 was about getting back to Roots and the last SOMW blog I wrote in December 2018 was on Balance. Getting to the root of things generally brings balance, so that’s what I’ve been up to. (Yay foreshadowing!) I’ve been pulling the sun (prints) outta my drawers (haha), getting organized & making space for new horizons. While I generally work in series, I heart to print and therefore have soo many not-so-random prints of our beautiful world to share with all of you! Check out my ilLUMENate Your Space gallery on my Website. All 5x7 lumens are On Sale til July 1st! Plus I’ve added a few lumen reproductions from previous markets in my Shoppe priced at just $10 and $20. Have a looksie.
On July 1st I’m heading out west on the next Sun Print World Tour Road Trip! Starting in Sudan, ending in Santa Fe, I will be making Sun Prints along the way! (and maybe writing a ditty or two, obviously, haha)
Pics from last years Sun Print World Tour Road Trip in Quebec and around Globe. Center pic is from an artist talk about the Sun Print Road Trip of 2018 during the Proceed to the Route group exhibit at Sullivan Stained Glass during PhotoNOLA December 2018 (pic: Thom Bennett)
In Santa Fe, I’m really excited to be participating in Photo Historica, a photographers sale for historic photo processes sponsored by Bostick-Sullivan. This event takes place July 5th-7th, is free and open to the public, and features contemporary photographers working with historic processes. I’m showing my lumen prints and hopefully some rad new cyanotypes from the road. There will be demonstrations throughout the event and The Handmade Photograph exhibit will be on display. Feel free to spread the word and tell all your New Mexico/Santa Fe friends about it!!
Can’t take a road trip without a trip to the DMV, naturally, and who says they ain’t open on Sunday?! This Sunday, the day before I leave for Sudan on my way to Santa Fe, join David Roe, Ukulele Jake & myself + special guest Phillip Whitmore from 4-7pm at the World’s Strangest Song Circle, DMV Anniversary & Uke Off at Buffa’s Bar & Restuarant…haa WHAAT. I will be celebrating my 15 year anniversary of going to the DMV on June 30th, 2004 when my life changed. It unexpectedly changed b/c my expected bad time at the DMV turned out to be pretty fun instead and I thought I’d apply that philosophy to my life. I did, and here I am 15 years later at Buffas singing about the joys of the DMV. Its amazing how many problems can be solved simply by a fresh perspective, and by Paying Attention to the seemingly small moments that make a big difference. Like the lady at the DMV, the lady in the beer line at Jazz Fest, the McDonalds in Bastrop, TX.. But I digress… anyhoo, I’m excited to be getting back to my performance roots and singing songs from my one woman show Nattie At the DMV at this eclectic songwriter in the round thats really a straight line. Looking forward to being back on stage with David Roe and Uke Jake. I have no idea what is going to happen, haha.
August is looking Awesome Already….more on all this later, but I will have an exhibit of lumen prints from that crazy cypress swamp land you know as present day Algiers at the Algiers Regional Library Aug & Sept.
Later in August, super excited to sing the tunes of Michael Nesmith with Joe Adragna at the Circle Bar! Thats Aug 24th.
Annd for the Fall…drum roll… I will be harvesting the Louisiana World Tour!!!! (insert music note emoji) At last…. (insert music note emoji) Details coming not soon enough!!
